Our Story
Kurugama Village Experience was created from a deep passion for rural Sri Lankan life, sustainable tourism, and authentic hospitality.
After more than 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry, we wanted to create something beyond traditional tourism — something that truly connects travelers with local people, culture, agriculture, and nature.
The idea was further shaped through valuable discussions and inspiration from Namal Jayasekara Founder of Greenspace International Pvt Ltd, a Sri Lankan export company recognized for its commitment to sustainability and community-focused values.
Inspired by these conversations, we began building a vision for community-based tourism in our home village of Kurugama, near Ella.
Today, Kurugama Village Experience offers travelers the opportunity to explore hidden waterfalls, hike through lush landscapes, experience traditional farming life, enjoy farm-to-table cooking, and stay with local families — while directly supporting the village community and preserving the natural environment.
